Biography

Mr. Duckett handles matters from pre-litigation assessment through discovery, dispositive motion practice, mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal. His experience includes partnership and shareholder conflicts, fiduciary-duty claims, business dissolutions, fraud and nondisclosure claims, licensing and royalty disputes, trade-secret and other intellectual-property matters, and labor and employment litigation.

Drawing on his work as a litigator, trial attorney, and outside general counsel, Mr. Duckett takes a business-driven approach to legal strategy. He works with clients to assess risk, identify leverage, manage litigation exposure, and pursue outcomes aligned with their broader commercial objectives. His practice also includes emerging issues involving artificial-intelligence liability, digital assets, and technology-related disputes.

Before joining Tajima LLP, Mr. Duckett served as a trial attorney at Tesser | Grossman LLP and Stubbs Alderton & Markiles LLP, and as a senior associate at Nixon Peabody LLP.

Representative Experience
  • Prevailed on a motion for judgment following a three-week trial, defeating a multimillion-dollar partnership claim against a concert-promotion company and recovering more than $1 million in attorneys' fees;
  • Prevailed in matters and secured judgments for clients including Giorgio Armani, Fashion Nova, H&M, and the Estate of Christopher Wallace (The Notorious B.I.G.), as well as privately held businesses and high-net-worth individuals;
  • Served as first- and second-chair counsel in trials, writ proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations, including federal jury trials in California;
  • Handled commercial disputes for Fortune 500 companies, middle-market businesses, municipalities, nonprofits, and public-affiliated entities;
  • Advised businesses and institutions as outside general counsel on governance, licensing, employment, compliance, and risk-management matters.
